Welcome to Aspirin Adventures

By this point in your life you have had plenty of opportunities to experience what pain is. Pain serves a purpose in that it tells you when something is wrong with your body that needs to be tended to. But it doesn't feel good, and once pain has done its job of alerting you to a problem in your body, it's nice if we can make it go away. In this module you will learn about how we have dealt with pain throughout the ages, and the some of the science behind pain relief. Its focus is on how we treat everyday pain, from headaches to arthritis, but we'll talk about methods of treating severe pain every now and then, too.

In this module there are readings, class activities, simulations, labs and computer activities. Most of the topics are related to science, specifically chemistry. But you will encounter some math and some history, too. You'll have to do some reading and writing for some of the activities. This module is, in short, interdisciplinary.

Many of the parts of the module are related to each other, but you can begin anywhere in the module. So, pick a topic from the menu on the Aspirin Adventures Directory page that looks interesting to you and get started.
