First Friday at CHF: Carnivorous Plant Feeding

sLowlifeBack by popular demand, Manual Science features feedings of carnivorous plants with talks from Martha Miller, educator and carnivorous plant expert, and Joe Rucker, chemist and carnivorous plant enthusiast.

The terrarium-enclosed inscet eaters will tie in to sLowlife, on display through December 2009. The museum’s permanent exhibit, Making Modernity, will also be open.

Feedings at 6:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.

Martha Miller is a self-taught proponent of native species of carnivorous plants and regularly gives workshops and lectures. She has won numerous awards at the Philadelphia Flower Show, including Best of Day and the Meadowbrooke Farm Trophy.

Joe Rucker has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley and is Director of Research & Development at Integral Molecular.

CHF joins over 40 Old City museums, galleries, and shops in opening its doors for First Friday. In addition to extending our hours until 8:00 p.m., each month's event will feature fascinating special guest speakers and interactive activities.
