| Description:

 |
This fall the Chemical Heritage Foundation will launch an annual symposium in Houston as part of our ongoing efforts to expand our public outreach activities.
During the full-day symposium, established and emerging leaders in the technical, entrepreneurial, and policy arenas will reflect on Houston’s past as a center for innovation and the ways in which the city is evolving to meet the needs of the future. Each year the symposium’s theme(s) will link to key initiatives of the Greater Houston Partnership. This year’s symposium, which addresses energy alternatives and the biomedical sciences, features:
•David W. Leebron, President, Rice University;
•Neal Lane, Senior Fellow, James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy, and Malcolm Gillis University Professor, Rice University;
•John W. Belmont, Professor, Department of Molecular and Human Genetics, Baylor College of Medicine; and
•Joseph A. Pratt, Cullen Professor of History and Business, University of Houston.
