Background
Dow Corning Corporation is a joint venture formed with the specific intention of exploring the potential of silicon-based materials. Today, more than sixty-five years after the company’s founding, our dedication to unleashing the potential for these materials is as strong as ever, with increasing need for our science- and technology-based innovations. This talk will outline the importance of science and technology to the growth of Dow Corning Corporation, where this is taking us, and how it supports our goal of bringing benefits to everyone everywhere.

Gregg Zank
Chief Technology Officer, Dow Corning Corporation


Gregg Zank has more than twenty years of industrial experience and a strong track record of scientific excellence. He holds thirty patents for innovations, including in advanced monolithic and composite ceramics, rechargeable batteries, and high-temperature thermosetting plastics.

As chief technology officer, he leads Dow Corning’s innovation efforts globally; these efforts include a unified approach to advancing and managing innovation for maximum future growth based on global megatrends. He also oversees the company’s resources and mechanisms for the development of new ideas and solutions, including a Business and Technology Incubator.

Gregg is actively involved in the advancement of science through membership of several national and international bodies, including the National Science Foundation, the American Chemical Society, and the American Academy for the Advancement of Science. He serves on Michigan’s Climate Action Council, instituted by Governor Jennifer Granholm to develop a comprehensive climate action plan for the state.

In 2009 Gregg received the Earle B. Barnes Award for his accomplishments in scientific leadership, invention, staff development, and business impact.



Chemical Consultants Network Exhibitors

At our November meeting the Joseph Priestley Society (JPS) will team up with the Chemical Consultants Network of the Philadelphia Section of the American Chemical Society to provide a multifaceted opportunity for you to celebrate innovation and entrepreneurship. This event will take place in the new conference center space at the Chemical Heritage Foundation, just as it did last year, and will give you the chance to enjoy this venue as well as the presentations of the exhibitors.

About the Joseph Priestley Society
The Joseph Priestley Society of CHF was founded in 2002 to promote a deeper and more reflective understanding of important scientific, technological, and industry developments. The society has a special orientation to issues involving innovation and entrepreneurship. Members are experienced, senior individuals from a wide variety of large and small chemical companies, and also from the financial, consulting, and academic communities.
